Ravers Review

Ravers is about a hungry young journalist, who also happens to be insanely germophobic, looking to make her mark in her job. When she’s told by her boss to get out there and “get your hands dirty” she’s invited by her cousin to come along for the ride and check out an illegal underground Rave. Little do these partiers know, this abandoned facility was once the home to a popular energy drink that accidentally became contaminated resulting in a roid juiced up employee going stark raving mad killing other employees. Soon, they find there’s still some of that magic go-go zombie juice still lurking in the building and that’s when the fun really kicks off.  This is no big budget horror/comedy movie. If that’s what…

Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Headset Review

A few weeks back I posted my review for the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 headset which can be found here. I thought it was a great headset and that over it’s predecessor it was a pretty large step into the right direction. My expectations for the Stealth 700s were elevated considerably given the changes made to the 600s. I’m pleased to say that the 700s really step up the game more and they just might be my favorite headset yet. As more and ore games rely on seriously detailed audio direction, any game needs a good headset and you should look no further than the current line of devices from Turtle Beach. The Stealth 700 Gen 2 immediately feels like a different headset…

Prepare for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Well well well… I’m still playing COD: WWII and now we get the official announcement of the next upcoming, and widely rumored COD game.

Smoking a Turkey

I’ve been smoking turkey for a good long time now. My friends love it. My family loves it and they all continually ask me how I do it. The answer is quite simple. Patience and a little TLC. So below I decided to lay out how I do my turkeys. Normally I get a bird that’s somewhere around 16lbs-18 lbs. I always used to go to the butcher and get it fresh but the cost is crippling especially around the holidays usually coming in at a price around $70-90. So one year I opted to go with frozen and I haven’t looked back. The frozen turkeys, if you take your time with it can come out just as juicy and flavorful as a fresh one.…

What to do About My BBQing?

I love my BBQing. I take a huge amount of pride in my BBQing and the delicious meals I make for friends and family. My BBQ is a thing or lore around these parts. So why haven’t I been doing more of it? Allow me to explain. I’ve had nothing but trouble in the last 8 months with BBQs and Smokers. My problems have been with faulty equipment or poor (cheap) workmanship. My Smoker rusted out on me after just 4 years. My Charbroil barrel charcoal BBQ rusted out on me after 2 and my BRAND NEW Char-Broil propane BBQ had issues but I had an extended warranty through Lowes and even they weren’t able to fix the unit. Turns out the issue was with the…

Making Bacon from Scratch

I’ve now made bacon from scratch only 2 or 3 times and every time is a brand new adventure for me. I like to try different combinations of flavors but without a doubt the most popular ones are my Maple bacon, Chipotle Honey and Asian inspired bacon. Not super recently due to some major lifestyle changes but late last year. Here are some of the details that I took to create 9 lbs of homemade bacon from a simple pork belly. I called up my buddy who owns a butcher shop in a small town not too far. Told him I needed pork belly and he made it happen. a few days later I| arrived and was greeted by a 9ish pound slab of pork…

The Joy of Growing Up With Technology

I was born in 1971.  Computers were NOT everywhere.  The benefits of having a computer at home was something that most people couldn’t grasp.  But then, my dad wasn’t an average dad. Luckily for me, he had a love of computer programming as a hobby and this led him to the local Computers, Etc store to buy an Apple ][ in 1977 for a cool $1300 ($5000 in today’s money!) At the time, I was only 5 (my birthday is in December) but I remember I was amazed by this magical machine. I wrote computer games on it (including one that simulated the WOPR in WarGames) and did school projects using a new-fangled thing called a “word processor.”  This word processor was called Magic Window…

Lindsey Stirling: Violinist, Dancer, Gamer and Dreamer

lindsey stirling concert

They say failure can be a great motivator for a talented, young performer. In Lindsey Stirling’s case, her dream of early career success ended in the semi-finals of America’s Got Talent in 2010 when Piers Morgan – his own success seemingly fleeting after his CNN talk show was cancelled in March of 2014 – hit his buzzer to end her run at stardom. In typical Piers Morgan fashion, he said of her violin playing that “there were times when it was okay, and there were times when it sounded like a rat getting strangled.” For those who haven’t heard of Lindsey Stirling, she is a violinist that dances around like a real-life tinkerbell while playing violin nearly flawlessly. Many wondered if there was even a…
