Gaming Industry – Is it Time for Consoles to Make Like Cell Phones?

With last years mid-generation release of the PS4 Pro, this fall’s release of the Mid-Generation Xbox One X is it possible that now is the right time for gaming consoles to take a page out of the cell phone manufacturers handbook and offer these consoles at a reduced price for locked in 1,2 or even 3 year contracts? To me the answer is pretty obvious. Yes. Insiders to both Sony and Microsoft seem to be saying that incremental upgrades and changes to the consoles is likely to be the norm going forward into the future so why not? An article from GamingBolt a few weeks ago suggests that MS is already well into investigating what the next console will look like (which is no surprise)…

Xbox Design Labs Review

At E3 last month, Microsoft announced that they were adding a handful of new options to their already impressive custom design controller website/service including new colors(Mineral Blue, Sierra Brown and Ink Blue), metallic finished and rubberized grips(extra charge). Up until recently I had played with the Xbox Design Labs website a little here and there late last year with the intention of building the perfect controller for my 8yr old daughter. I just never got around to ordering/pulling the trigger on it but I’m actually quite happy I held off. Recently I was provided with some credit to be used with the design, order and delivery of a controller and was it ever fun. The only problem is it’s so time consuming and fun experimenting…

Smoking a Turkey

I’ve been smoking turkey for a good long time now. My friends love it. My family loves it and they all continually ask me how I do it. The answer is quite simple. Patience and a little TLC. So below I decided to lay out how I do my turkeys. Normally I get a bird that’s somewhere around 16lbs-18 lbs. I always used to go to the butcher and get it fresh but the cost is crippling especially around the holidays usually coming in at a price around $70-90. So one year I opted to go with frozen and I haven’t looked back. The frozen turkeys, if you take your time with it can come out just as juicy and flavorful as a fresh one.…

What to do About My BBQing?

I love my BBQing. I take a huge amount of pride in my BBQing and the delicious meals I make for friends and family. My BBQ is a thing or lore around these parts. So why haven’t I been doing more of it? Allow me to explain. I’ve had nothing but trouble in the last 8 months with BBQs and Smokers. My problems have been with faulty equipment or poor (cheap) workmanship. My Smoker rusted out on me after just 4 years. My Charbroil barrel charcoal BBQ rusted out on me after 2 and my BRAND NEW Char-Broil propane BBQ had issues but I had an extended warranty through Lowes and even they weren’t able to fix the unit. Turns out the issue was with the…

A Plague Tale: Innocence Trailer

Now here’s a little gem that somehow I overlooked in all the commotion of E3 last week. From Asobo Studio and publisher Focus Home Interactive comes a nifty looking little title called A Plague Tale: Innocence. It doesn’t have a release window as yet but the teaser trailer surely has my attention as this might be a pretty cool twist on the stealth game genre mixing in a little horror with rats… lots and lots of disease spreading RATS! Check the trailer below. A Plague Tale: Innocence blends action, adventure, and stealth. Follow our protagonists Amicia and her little brother Hugo, both orphans and on the run from the terrifying Inquisition. Our young heroes will also need to survive against an even greater danger: supernatural…

Le Tour de France 2017 Review (XBox One)

When I saw that Le Tour de France 2017 show up as an option for me to review, I couldn’t help but get an itch in my head that needed to be scratched so regardless of my inexperience with the annual series, and complete lack of knowledge of how the race works, I felt I needed to learn something outside of my comfort zone so immediately I requested a code. Right from the start the game assumes the user to be inexperienced and thrusts brings them into a quick tutorial introducing you to the aspects of speed control (right trigger for speed, left to slow down), speed burst(repeatedly pressing A), cruise control (a HIGHLY welcome feature in this mode using the LB), follow control (pressing…
