2 Hearts Review

2 Hearts is a romantic drama based on a true story. It follows 2 couples from different times and their journey which, as fate would have it, connects them.

The first story is that of Chris(Jacob Elordi), a goofy underachieving college freshman and his crush and all around nice girl next door Sam (Tiera Skovbye) and the relationship they build. Instantly Chris is smitten with Sam the moment he sees her and struggles to keep his mind off her. Clearly Sam felt something too and they begin their bond over providing a safe drive home service for other college students. The other is about Jorge (Adan Canto), a wealthy Cuban businessman in the distillation business who many years before Chris is born meets a stewardess, Leslie(Radha Mitchell) on a flight and falls madly in love with her.

The acting was fine from all involved and I thought the female co-leads were particularly good. Thinking back on it all as I go over my notes, I should mention that I’m not overly familiar with Jacob Elordi ‘s previous body of work but he did put in a performance that comes off as a sweet, loveable but doofy guy. Someone who sees good and joy in life and that’s the kind of person I like to surround myself with when possible.

The filmmakers had some really good intentions and big visions with 2 Hearts, especially the much marketed “mystery” connection which, sadly never sticks the landing. Literally anyone would have an idea of exactly where the story is headed would figure it out within minutes of pressing play. 2 Hearts is a lower tier, middle of the pack film that in all honesty, felt more like an After School Special. There are some nice life messages in 2 Hearts that I think hold great value. We’d all be in a better place if we were to just take heed to these messages.

2 Hearts is in theaters right now
